We organize webinars eight times a year on various topics. Zefanja Vermeulen and external experts share their in-depth knowledge, allowing you to learn more about the horse's body.
These webinars are free for participants of the full The Horse Inside Out course and community members. Non-members can easily register for individual webinars.
On February 19, we will continue with part 2 of our webinar series on movement. In this session with Zefanja Vermeulen and Thirza Hendriks, we will build on the biomechanics of the walk, trot, and canter, focusing in particular on one crucial component: the hindquarters. The webinar can be followed independently, but it also logically builds on the content of the first part.
In this webinar, Zefanja Vermeulen and Thirza Hendriks will guide you through the function and mechanics of the hindquarters. Starting with the question of why the hindquarters are built the way they are, we will explore how power is generated, how that power is transferred into movement, and what happens when this function comes under strain.
→ Insight into the function of the pelvis, hip, stifle, and hock joints as the engine of movement
→ The role of the hindquarters in walk, trot, and canter: how it should function biomechanically
→ What you observe in the movement when the hindquarters can no longer perform their function optimally
→ Differences in movement and range of motion between types of horses, depending on origin and breeding goals
